Administrator / Bookkeeper

£25,000 - £28,000 per annum

Both full and part-time applications will be considered, the salary will be prorated according to the hours worked

 

This small but growing, friendly, forward thinking Accountancy Practice has a good local presence, expanding client portfolio and a great reputation for providing comprehensive accounting and tax services for SMEs.  This really is a diverse and varied role (a ‘right hand’ to the Practice Director), and an exciting opportunity to work in an administrative capacity, whilst learning more about the delivery of certain aspects (training may be provided) of bookkeeping support. This job will develop further with the continued growth of the practice – we are looking for those with a genuine and long term interest in working in an accounts and administration position, reciprocally offering stability and longevity to this crucial role.

 

Reporting to the Practice Director, the main duties will include:

 

  • General administration – meeting and greeting visitors, answering calls and the day to day interface with clients on email and by telephone
  • Managing the office in an efficient and (with regards to consumables and services) cost-effective manner
  • Helping resolve customer queries, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner, and deadlines met
  • Receipt of client information and checking to ensure it is complete; scanning client information and loading  onto the internal database
  • Input of sales transactions and other transactional data as required
  • Provision of additional (training and support provided as necessary) client bookkeeping services as required
  • Maintain and support the paperless office policy
  • Support the Director with the practice online presence and marketing collateral

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • Previous office support and administration experience essentialWorking knowledge of bookkeeping principles would be a distinct advantage and desirable
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero or Quickbooks) desirable but not essential
  • Confident user of IT, experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook etc)
  • Confident and clear communications
  • Good interpersonal skills and personal presentation
  • Good organisation and planning skills
  • Flexible approach to the delivery of a top-class administration service, and able to cope with varying levels (and urgency) of work - willing to ‘step in’ and ‘help out’ to ensure deadlines are met

 

                Salary and Benefits:

 

  • Annual salary between £25,000 - £28,000 (negotiable and dependent upon experience).  We will also consider applications from those seeking part time employment
  • 20 days leave (pro rata according to hours) + 8 Bank & statutory holidays
  • Pension
