Trainee Accountant Apprenticeship

c£18,000 per annum + benefits including full training and study through AAT / ACCA qualification


An independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors, acting for over 400 clients ranging from high net worth individuals to large international companies, are now looking to appoint a school or college leaver, with a desire to work in accountancy whilst enjoying full sponsorship towards a formal accountancy qualification (ACCA). Based in Sunningdale, this is an exciting and rare opportunity offering progression through the firm to become a Chartered Accountant and experience all aspects of accountancy, audit and taxation in a professional, fun and genuinely supportive environment.


This Trainee Accountant Apprenticeship role would suit a school or college leaver with impressive A Level (actual or predicted) and GCSE results who has already decided on a career in accountancy or finance but who is looking for a practical alternative to three years at University and the associated student debt! Experience and training on a wide and varied range of clients will be provided and this is an opportunity to study towards gaining a recognised accounting qualification (ACCA) as well as swift progression through the firm.


The Trainee Accountant Apprenticeship role will include exposure to all aspects of general practice accountancy as follows:


  • Preparation of accounts - sole trader, partnership, limited companies and overseas branches
  • Bookkeeping  - maintenance of client records on a range of accounting packages, including sales and purchase invoice controls, receipts and payment analysis, bank reconciliations and VAT reconciliations
  • VAT – preparation and submission of client VAT Returns
  • Payroll & CIS – preparation of monthly client reports and submissions
  • Personal Taxation – assistance with and completion of Self-Assessment Tax Returns
  • Corporation Taxation – Preparation with and completion of CT Returns
  • Audits – assisting seniors / managers with site  / office based work
  • Client correspondence - both written and oral communication
  • General administration - filing etc. relating to the office and clients


About You

  • Excellent grasp of Maths and English - with at least B grades (or equivalent) in both subjects at GCSE, together with three good A Levels in relevant subjects
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and personal presentation - there will a high degree of client contact and it is important that candidates are confident in communicating both verbally and in writing
  • Analytical and enquiring mind
  • Highly attentive to detail
  • Good team player – small close knit group working to get the best outcome at all times for clients
  • Experienced IT user, experience with MS Office essential


About The Benefits

  • annual salary between £16,000-£20,000 (negotiable)
  • Sponsorship and day release (initially) through to completion of AAT then ACCA qualification
