New Product Introduction Manager (Europe) – Engineering/Manufacturing

 - for an outstanding ‘world class’ employer

Starting salary £35-45k (negotiable dependent upon experience) + extensive benefits

 

We are now seeking to appoint an ambitious Engineering Project manager with 2 – 3 years experience in a similar role to join this high profile, world class manufacturer. 

 

This particular facility manufactures nickel-based, titanium and steel alloy components for the aerospace, oil & gas and energy markets.  As a group, we employ nearly 30,000 people at 161 locations in 15 countries.  We insist on quality, not just in materials and processes but also in the people we employ.  Despite our size, those who work with us are recognised, respected and rewarded - you will never just be "a number" or "get lost in the crowd".

 

This is a project management role with responsibility for the introduction of new products into our plants, covering both Aerospace and Energy products. You will be based at our site in Livingston but will also cover Lincoln and Plzen, some international travel will be required (approximately once a quarter, project dependant).

 

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Vice President for Commercial and Business Development

 

  • To be the key interface between the customer and the production plant
  • To coordinate all tasks within the plant to ensure on-time and on-budget completion
  • To ensure customer specifications are met without compromising requirements
  • To drive and report progress and to identify variances to plan
  • To propose alternative actions to return projects to plan
  • To motivate the project team to achieve success
  • To continually improve the New Product Introduction process
  • To travel to customer facilities internationally as required
  • To track and report product profitability against plan throughout the project and for first production run plans

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • On-Time-Delivery of launches
  • Contract review on time
  • Design complete on time
  • NPI budget adherence for each product
  • Product validations complete on schedule

 

Key Skills:

  • Able to read technical drawings and understand technical specifications
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
  • Good presentation skills
  • High levels of interpersonal, motivational and communication skills both in oral and written formats
  • Tenacious, highly driven, ability to drive and hold accountable senior managers for key project milestones
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and confident
  • Ability to manage both detail and the big picture

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in an appropriate engineering related discipline for example Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, or General Engineering. Will consider other related disciples
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in an engineering project management environment
  • Demonstrate proven Project Management capability ideally with project management qualification such as Prince2
  • Experience of working in cross functional project roles  both internally and in a customer-facing role
  • Experience of the Aerospace sector would be an advantage but not mandatory

 

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.15pm and Friday 8am to 3pm with half hour break
